In doing so, we are, amongst oth­er things, com­ply­ing with the legislator’s request to involve stake­hold­ers in the devel­op­ment of the sys­tem, in accord­ance with the EU Dir­ect­ive on Empower­ing Con­sumers for the Green Trans­ition 2024/825 (EmpCo). 

All GEV doc­u­ments and mater­i­als are avail­able at www.emicode.com/en/technical-documents, but you are also wel­come to request them sep­ar­ately from us.

Should you have any sug­ges­tions for changes, we will respond in all cases, even if the decision-mak­ing body does not adopt your pro­pos­al. We would then be happy to arrange an expert meet­ing.

Even if you do not have any requests or sug­ges­tions, we would appre­ci­ate your approv­al or feed­back.

GEV Stake­hold­er Ques­tion­naire

As a labelling scheme for low-emis­sion con­struc­tion products, the EMICODE® label provides guid­ance. All inter­ested parties are invited to con­trib­ute to and help improve the ‘EMICODE®’ sys­tem. The aim is to obtain dif­fer­ent per­spect­ives and to assess the impact of pro­posed meas­ures on mar­ket par­ti­cipants, end users and the envir­on­ment.

Par­ti­cip­a­tion is vol­un­tary. The inform­a­tion provided will be treated con­fid­en­tially and used solely for eval­u­ation pur­poses as part of the decision-mak­ing pro­cess. This ques­tion­naire provides a frame­work for your input; of course, feed­back on pro­pos­als or sug­ges­tions can also be provided by tele­phone or email. Please do get in touch!

1. With its EMICODE® clas­si­fic­a­tion sys­tem, the GEV fol­lows an approach based on the sum­mary assess­ment of emis­sions from con­struc­tion products, with the aim of con­trib-uting to an object­ive assess­ment and provid­ing a clear eval­u­ation sys­tem. To this end, total emis­sions are divided into three classes and restric­tions are placed on crit­ic­al sub-stances. Do you think this is a reas­on­able approach?
2. GEV restricts the use of EMICODE® to the labelling of products in rela­tion to which it pos­sesses, or can acquire, its own spe­cial­ist know­ledge. Do you think this makes sense?
3. The require­ments for EMICODE® products are set out in the GEV clas­si­fic­a­tion cri­ter­ia. These cri­ter­ia describe the restric­tions relat­ing to volat­ile organ­ic com­pounds and cer­tain sub­stances. Are there any changes or addi­tions you would like to see in this regard?
4. Products sub­ject to the EMICODE® are tested for emis­sions in accord­ance with DIN EN 16516. As part of the test, sample pre­par­a­tion is car­ried out in accord­ance with the rel­ev­ant product type. Would you like any changes or addi­tions to this?
5. In order to provide the mar­ket with as much choice as pos­sible from a range of dif­fer­ent EMI­CODE-licensed products with­in a product cat­egory, at least three sup­pli­ers in that product cat­egory must express an interest in EMICODE®. Do you think that is the right approach?
