Tiles to enhance your private wellness oasis

Choice of flooring – a key factor in bathroom design

Modern tiles with their wide range of choices help you make your dream bathroom come true. Today, tiles can imitate the look of wood, concrete or natural stone and are available in a multitude of colors, surfaces and formats. Tiles thus offer virtually unlimited design options. If adhesives and grouts with the EMICODE® label are used for installation, emissions are guaranteed to be as low as possible to ensure a healthy home.

When realizing your dream bathroom, there is simply no better choice than tiles. They are made of natural raw materials and are easier to keep clean if they are equipped with a smooth surface. Tiles are extremely hard-wearing: if something falls down, there will be no marks or dents. Due to their good thermal conductivity, tiles are also the ideal partner for underfloor heating.

It’s not only for practical reasons that tiles are commonly used in bathrooms. They also play a crucial role for creating a beautiful atmosphere. Whether extra large tiles or small mosaic tiles: they are not only available in classic white, beige, grey or black, but also in stylish colors that reflect modern trends. Marine colors such as aquamarine, cool green and deep azure blue are very much in vogue right now, as they give classic stoneware and cement tiles an extra fresh look. If you like it warm and cheerful, choose yellow and orange tones. By contrast, grey tiles create a cool and trendy urban look. Also popular: a black-and-white checkerboard pattern.

Tiles also come in a wide range of surfaces – whether polished, matt, glossy or rough. Even wave-like and curved structures as well as reliefs, honeycombs or flowers are available now. Floor tiles with a rough surface are usually laid in wet rooms to provide the necessary slip resistance. Large-format tiles are currently very trendy because they make the bathroom look more spacious. This effect pays off especially in small rooms.

When expertly installed, wall and floor tiles can withstand the high wear and tear of bathrooms for decades and are therefore a sustainable choice. On top, more and more housebuilders and renovators attach great importance to healthy living. When tiling your bathroom, you should therefore opt for primers, mortars, adhesives and grouts that have been certified with the EMICODE® label. The EMICODE® is a vendor-neutral quality seal that is only awarded to building products that feature the lowest possible emissions. By carrying out unannounced spot checks, independent laboratories continuously monitor whether the manufacturers comply with the required limit values. This makes the EMICODE® label a good indicator of building materials which consumers can put their trust in – to ensure healthy living conditions in your private wellness oasis.

Tiles are an indispensable part of the bathroom. They are available for every home decor style – also including the Scandinavian one (see photo above). Add some stylish bathroom furniture, plants, lots of daylight and your private spa is ready for use. The practical benefits of tiles are also undeniable: they are hard-wearing, hygienic and easy to keep clean. In addition, tiles conduct heat very well. This makes them the perfect partner for underfloor heating.
