Testing Method
and Granting of Licences

EMICODE® is a trademark-protected label of the GEV. Use of this label is granted to GEV members via licences.
The required application form is available from management. The licence is granted free of charge.

A prerequisite for the granting of a licence to use the EMICODE® label is a declaration by the applicant
that his product complies with the classification criteria of GEV. All necessary tests are to be performed
according to the GEV testing method. Correct classification of the product is done on the member’s own
authority and is monitored by GEV.

Licensee shall inform GEV regarding licensed products withdrawn from the market. In case of a name
change, a new licence application shall be submitted for the article in question.

On request, the licence can be issued in 9 different languages.

Method

By using highly sensitive laboratory analysis techniques, such as gas chromatography and mass spectrometry, and by following standardised test procedures, even the smallest traces of volatile organic compounds (VOC) in the air can be identified and quantified.
